The Engineering Division is located at Claydon Business Park, outside Ipswich. QK is located in Stowmarket and Brigg and Tex Plastics have sites in Barnstaple and Derby.

Engineering

With more than 100 years’ experience, BSP International Foundations is the world’s premier manufacturer of hydraulic hammer and compaction equipment and Tex ATC and Tex Special Projects contribute to major architectural and ship building projects such as the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers and world’s tallest air traffic control tower at Bangkok International Airport. G&M Tex design, manufacture and install high specification gensets in Navy ships, superyachts, oil and gas platforms, airports, data centres and hospitals, and Tex Engineering manufacture road construction machinery, kiosks and trailers.

Plastics

Tex Plastics manufacture injection moulded components for life-critical applications, electronic products, white goods, medical solutions, construction and exteriors.

Boards & Panels

QK Honeycomb Products is a leading manufacturer of bespoke lightweight composite panels for the retail and exhibition sector, and fabricator of specialist furniture products to the leisure vehicle industry.

Technical Tool Setter, Tex Plastics Ltd, Barnstaple (Devon)

Job title: Tool Setter/Technician
Area: Mould Shop support
Reports To: Process Manager

Overall Purpose of Job
  • Organise & prioritise tool change referencing priority list provided by Production.
  • Ensure all surplus equipment/tools are removed from presses and correctly stored prior to start ups, keeping press area clean after tool changes.
  • Ensures all ancillary equipment required is in place in a safe condition & ready for use.
  • Completes machine safety check log when tool change is complete.
  • Completes first-off trials to a satisfactory nature & provides as a sample to QC.
  • Takes remedial action if first-off trials are not satisfactory & stays on job until they are to standard required.
  • Liaise with Shift Supervisor & QC to enable resolution of issues as they arise on shift.
  • Investigate & deal with moulding problems as they arise & provide solutions.
  • Ensure production start-ups are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Monitor production levels/cycle times during shift & take remedial action when required.
  • Completes setting sheets & records variations on process sheet and/or End of Run Report.
  • Ensures Last-off samples are supplied to QC and Toolroom.

  • Ability to work within advised production plans to ensure tool availability.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Working knowledge of Plastics moulding tools
  • Appreciate the care areas on mould tools especially shut outs.
  • Hands on maintenance type experience. Car maintenance etc.
  • Understand mould construction.
  • General engineering practices.
  • Housekeeping and hygiene.
  • Ability to teamwork effectively across several area/site location.
  • Ability to drive appropriate actions.

Desirable

  • Ability to read tool drawings.
  • Mould tool maker or press Tool setter.
  • Ability to take over and manage tool setting operation both technically and from a financial aspect.

Mould Shop Operators, TEX PLASTICS, Barnstaple

Function: Press Production Operator

Overall Purpose of Job

  • Operate injection moulding machines to agreed work practices.
  • Operate within Mouldshop, Cleanroom or Whiteroom.
  • Record hourly count sheets whilst operating machines to ensure the correct daily / weekly output is achieved.
  • Record and report levels of scrap to line supervisor.
  • Inspect product complies with specification as per PQS document. Complete hourly Q/A check sheets.
  • Ensure correct materials are supplied & used in the moulding process as per documentation.
  • Minimise waste material, report high levels of scrap to line supervisor.
  • Pack finished goods to specification given through TCR.
  • Complete all tasks whilst working within all company HSE regs.
  • Ensure work areas & walkways are kept clean & free from hazard, report concerns.
